Customer Product Aliases in Odoo
Many companies sell products to customers who use their own product codes or descriptions, especially in wholesale, distribution, and manufacturing. Until now, Odoo’s standard functionality has only supported vendor-specific product aliases on purchase orders. Steersman has extended this capability with the new “Customer Product Aliases” feature, which allows product aliases for customers on sales orders as well.
What the Feature Does
Steersman’s Customer Product Alias module allows you to assign customer-specific product names and codes, which are then automatically applied on:
- Sales Orders
- Customer Invoices
- Pro-forma Invoices
- Delivery Slips
This means that your customers will see their version of the product code and name, while your team continues working with the internal product catalog. It is also EDI compatible.
How it Works
A new section is added to the product form:

Navigate to Inventory > Products
-
Open any product
-
Under the sales tab, you can:
- Select a Customer
- Set their Product Name and Product Code
Customer product aliases for multi-variant products are managed at the variant level.
