User Restricted Access for Product Moves

Steersman Odoo Feature: Quality Director was created to help businesses meet Food Defense and Food Security regulations by allowing only designated personnel to move products out of their quality hold location and back into stock.

Enable the Quality Director Feature

To enable this setting, go to the Settings app and under the Inventory configuration’s Warehouse section, enable the Quality Director feature. Once enabled, click SAVE to let Odoo install the feature in the database.

Configure a Quality Hold Location

Now, let’s go to the Inventory app and under the Configuration menu option, click Locations from the drop-down. Open up your Quality location and enable the ‘Is Quality Hold Location’ option to restrict how users interact with the Quality location in Odoo.

Assign Quality Director Permissions to Specific Users

To assign special quality director permissions, go to the Settings app, then under the Users & Groups menu option, click Users from the dropdown. Then open up the specific user and enable the ‘Quality Director’ permission.

Functionality

Regular users will be able to move products into the quality hold location for the quality team to inspect, but only users with the ‘Quality Director’ permissions will be able to create and process transfers to move products out of the quality location once the inspection is completed.

If a regular user attempts to move a product out of the quality hold location, they will hit a blocking error.
