POS-Style Multi-Delivery Sale Order Management

Enable POS-style processing of complex orders with multiple delivery methods and different warehouse routings based on the delivery choice for each order, allowing online store users to self-specify their delivery preferences if items on their order have vastly different availability times.
Many professional supply retail stores distribute their products in various ways. For example, some items are picked up in a showroom, others are brought to a counter from the warehouse, while others must be loaded onto a dock or yard, and yet more may be shipped by UPS or freight. Steersman makes Odoo work for that.
Furthermore, professional supplies are often interchangeable, with varying availability and quality/finish ratings; background information on such details can sometimes be critical to quickly servicing a customer in a satisfactory manner. We have that covered, too.
POS style checkout for showroom sales
Contextual information on product details, such as interchanges, availability across multiple warehouses, tags related to quality, fit, and other attributes, as well as delivery/pickup options, takes up space on a screen. A regular POS doesn’t accommodate such needs.
Steersman enhances Odoo’s sales order screen with tools and contextual information about products. And we then add automation to process a delivery and invoice without manual steps, taking the user right to a payment screen where they can pick between various POS-style payment options, including charging a card (via terminal, typing in a number, or from a saved payment token – all via NMI gateway compatible processors/devices) – once the user processes the charge – the order is processed in Odoo as confirmed. The items are delivered, invoiced, and paid.
Different picking types for different delivery methods
A single product can be shipped via UPS, picked up in-store, shipped LTL, or via another delivery method. Each delivery method typically has a distinct level of urgency and a scheduled pickup time.
Steersman adds shipping tags to allow specifying different inventory route rules based on the delivery method chosen for a specific delivery.
Items shipped via UPS Ground can be queued into a regular UPS pickup queue. Items going next-day air are placed in the rush UPS pickup queue. Additionally, items being picked for customers waiting in the showroom are queued into their picking queue.
Special delivery methods for special customers
Allow certain customers to have specific additional delivery methods, such as same-day delivery to select addresses or other methods available only to select clients. Steersman adds delivery group filters, allowing certain delivery methods based on delivery group tags set on a customer’s address.
Processing an order with multiple delivery methods
A large order can be split into separate sales orders or into multiple delivery groups, based on availability, lead time, and shipping type (such as UPS vs. truck-only). Splitting an in-store order is simply inconvenient, but if an online order must ship in multiple deliveries, it’s advantageous to have multiple deliveries vs having multiple separate sales orders (even more so if the customer was made aware of the need to split the order and chose the delivery methods for various product groups themself).
Steersman provides functionality to group product lines into shipping groups, with configurable automation that suggests groups based on product stock and lead times. Each group can have its own delivery method (e.g., pickup in the showroom, bring to the counter, bring to the dock, ship LTL, ship UPS) and its own source warehouse. And then warehouse pickers receive documents that tell them exactly what to retrieve and where to bring it, eliminating the need to print papers and pass them around with handwritten notes.
Sales tax calculation based on delivery method choice
For products picked up in-store vs products delivered to the client, sales tax lookup and reporting (via TaxJar) is routed with the proper taxable location – taxed at store location for picked up items, and taxed at destination location for shipped items, all based on delivery configuration, and all automatically calculated and set for the sales clerk.
Steersman’s POS-style multi-delivery order management and other modules are included in our subscription-based Odoo services.
