Odoo ERP for Electrical Supplies Distributors and Retail Chains

Steersman provides a suite with sales add-ons for Odoo ERP to accommodate electrical supply stores and retail chains that want to sell simultaneously via brick-and-mortar stores, ecommerce, and inside-sales wholesale channels. Our tools provide a standard set of interfaces and capabilities that accommodate the various sales channels, all working through Odoo.

To make up the setup, we provide several specialized applications that are modules in the Odoo ERP and microservices running in tandem with it.

These are the largest Steersman applications that enable Odoo the capability to run electrical or lighting supply distributors and retail store chains.

Taking orders

Steersman’s POS-style sales order management applications allows using the Sale Order screen in Odoo for fast point-of-sale checkout. It is built primarily for B2B sales of technical product, where customers order combinations of products that are available for pick up in the showroom, must be brought out from the warehouse, drop shipped from vendors, and loaded in special areas (example: customer must pick up a pallet of high bay lights at the dock). The POS app from Steersman provides fast order checkout and payment, and allows configuration to route various items to be picked in different ways from a single order, depending on their chosen delivery methods.

Managing sales and shipping stations

Our Workstations Management for Odoo application allows configuring “workstations” that users can select. Workstations can define the credit card terminal that should process the user’s transactions, printers that would print invoices, delivery slips, picking slips, product bar code labels, and shipping labels, and also define how a specific workstation can “collect” money and where such money should be routed. We allow printing directly to printers (regular and Zebra-type) without needing Raspberry Pi devices, and send transactions right onto card terminals (via NMI gateway). This way, the salesperson can use the cloud system and select the workstation to use devices at the cash register or shipping station they start using in your electrical supplies store.

Collecting pre-payments

Advanced Odoo deposits application from Steersman allows fast collection of down payments (and automatic creation of deposits for instances where the customer’s order is prepaid by not handed over at the cash register), and then partial application of such deposits across multiple invoices related to the order. It helps especially if your customers tend to purchase a range of different electrical products or supplies at once, and where you may need to deliver in multiple shipments.

Seamless ecommerce

Our High performance ecommerce and PIM application and microservice allow managing a technical product catalog with up to a few million products. It provides the best technical SEO capabilities, lightning-fast performance for page loading, faceted filters, and website search. And also data management tooling to organize products, attributes (and their corresponding site filters). It accommodates multiple price lists, easy reordering, and more, all entirely within Odoo.

Optional applications for high-volume and large-catalog

Sales taxes

Steersman’s TaxJar certified integration for Odoo ensures seamless calculations (and optional submission) of sales taxes for USA for orders, invoices, a credit memos - for in-store, phone, and online orders.

Setting prices

For extra large electrical distributor catalogs where managing each individual price may not be practical in Odoo, Steersman provides our Odoo Pricing Engine application, which allows setting groups of products and customers, and creating dynamic formulas for calculating prices of products, including when products are sold in “packages”.
