The Challenges – Before Implementing Odoo
M-Edge used SageX software for their order fulfillment, EDI, and accounting. Incoming fulfillment orders are received via EDI or by phone. Each EDI trading partner required different EDI documentation, and any issues with the data arising from EDI with some trading partners resulted in a hefty chargeback.
The Solution – Going further with Odoo
Steersman’s Odoo implementation replaced SageX with Odoo ERP and Steersman’s EDI integration (using Kleinschmidt VAN). The receipt and dispatch of all EDI documentation is now done within Odoo. SSCC-18 numbers and UCC128 labels are now auto-generated, with custom UCC128 templates created for trading partners who specifically request them.
The Results
Steersman’s Odoo has changed how M-Edge handles EDI, streamlining the process. In addition to transforming how M-Edge handles EDI, Odoo’s shipping and inventory applications have changed how they operate their business. Using routing to track purchase orders in transit for 12 or more weeks. They also subcontract other companies, sending raw materials from vendor A to vendor B to complete the finished product and ship it back to their warehouse.

- EasyPost shipping – Rate shop, estimate, and ship parcels right from Odoo
- EDI Integration with Kleinschmidt – Receive and send different types of EDI exchange documents in Odoo
- Workstations – Configure specific printings per workstation to be used by specific users completing particular tasks
