Adding pods to product pages
Customize your product page with Steersman’s pods to give your customers all the details on specified products.
Adding in your pods
On your product page in your PIM App, click the Website Pods tab. Here, you can see the locations where you can add pods.
To add a pod, click “Add a line” in your chosen placement. Then, add an internal name for this pod and click “Create.”
After you enter your title, you can click under the Component header. This will take you to the list of trunk-level pods. Learn more about pod types and what they do here.
Pod placements
Header pods
The pods placed here will be under your product name. Great to highlight sales on specific products.
I used the Large Banner pod for the example below.
Description pods
Pods will be placed above the “Product Details” title and description.
*Because of the placement, these pods will be confined to the margins set for the product information.
The example below shows that the Large Banner pod still works but does not span the entire screen because of the preset product margins.
Specifications pods
Pods will be placed above the “Specifications” header and chart. These pods will also be confined to the product margins.
In this example, I used the Picture with Text pod to add the image/diagram next to the table, which I added using Markdown.
Aside pods
If you have “similar products” (“You may also like’) chosen to display on your product page, the pods you include here will be placed above them.
I used the Product Tiles pod for cross-selling in the example below.
Footer pods
Pods will be placed right above the footer.
In this example, I used the Inline Block Container pod to add links to related categories.
Save and publish
You need to publish your product page so that you can see your updated content on your website. In the Websites App, click on the Publish tab. Once there, click the Create button. On the next screen, you will select the website you want the page to publish to (if you have multiple websites) and check the Products checkbox. Click Save at the top, then click Start.
*If you have many products, publishing may take a few minutes.
