Enable Website Net Terms in Odoo with Steersman

Why this Article Exists
This article explains how to enable and configure Website Net Terms as a payment method in your Odoo website, using the Steersman platform. It is intended to support users who want to offer invoice-based payment options to B2B customers.
Why Website Net Terms Exist
Website Net Terms allow businesses to offer payment on terms (e.g., Net 30, Net 45) directly through the website checkout process. This enables a more frictionless experience for returning or trusted customers who are allowed to pay later by invoice rather than by credit card.
Why ours? Steersman’s integration makes this part of the website checkout flow, reducing manual admin work and increasing customer satisfaction.
Warnings and Gotchas
- Website Net Terms must be enabled as a payment method and assigned to individual customers with correct credentials. Missing either step will prevent the customer from seeing this payment option.
- Users must refresh their browser to see the new method after configuration.
- Customers without valid payment tokens will not see this option, even if enabled on the website.
Feature Overview
Website Net Terms: - Can be added as a payment option at checkout - Are visible only to customers who are assigned specific payment credentials - Automatically apply configured payment terms (e.g., Net 30) on confirmed orders
How to Configure Website Net Terms
Pre-requisites
- Admin access to the Website, Contacts, and Accounting modules in Odoo.
- Appropriate customer payment terms defined (e.g., Net 30, Net 45).
Step 1: Add Website Net Terms as a Payment Method
- Go to: Websites → Website → Pricing & Payments → Payment Methods
- Click Add and select Website Net Terms.
- Make sure the toggle is green (enabled).
Step 2: Assign a Payment Token to the Contact
- Go to: Contacts → Company Contact
- Under the Sales & Purchase tab:
- Set the appropriate Payment Terms (e.g., Net 30).
- Then go to the Payment Credentials tab:
- Click Add Net Terms
- Set Acquirer Account to Website Net Terms
- Select the Payment Terms that match what was set under the Sales & Purchase tab.
- Click Add
Child Contacts Automatically Inherit Net Terms from the Parent Contact
When a backend user creates a net term for a parent contact, it will automatically apply to child contacts as well. So, when a child contact logs into the website, they will be able to see the Net Term as a payment method option.
Step 3: Refresh the Browser
Once configuration is complete, the customer will need to refresh their browser to see the new Website Net Terms payment method at checkout.
Usage Scenario
Example: A wholesale buyer logs into their account, selects items, and proceeds to checkout. Because they have been pre-approved for Net 30 terms, they can choose “Website Net Terms” at checkout. The order is processed, and they are invoiced per the defined terms.
